Respond to Restraining Order (DV-110)
If you have been served with the Temporary Restraining order (DV-110), You are NOT entitled to a free court-appointed lawyer.
You MUST respond to the Temporary Restraining order (DV-110) ‘before’ the hearing date. You have to be very very careful in your response because anything you say or write, can be used against you.
If you do not respond on time, the court can order a PERMANENT restraining order against you. The restraining order can last for up to five years. Custody, visitation, child support, and spousal support orders can last longer than five years, and they do not end when the restraining order ends.
